A winning combination

> The Industrials division has achieved a momentous win for Transpacific, winning a five year contract with one of Australia’s leading energy companies, Santos.

This major contract is the first of its kind between Transpacific and Santos.

Santos was particularly impressed with Transpacific’s unique approach to the bid which demonstrated both commitment and continuity throughout.

“Transpacific offers a depth of technical and specialist experience in the processing of sludge, and this was also a major part of our decision making for this contract,” said Brenton Emery, Senior Contract Analyst from Santos.

Industrials National Sales Manager, Adrian Valente concurs with Santos’ sentiments, saying that it’s all about the dedication of great people and their commitment to building strong relationships with clients.

Transpacific’s five-year contract will involve the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a Sludge Treatment Facility at Santos’ Moomba site.

The Facility forms an integral part of the wider purpose-built site, which has been set up to gather and process natural gas and oil found in the South Australian part of the surrounding area, known as the Cooper Basin and the overlying Eromanga Basin.

Transpacific’s role at the Moomba site will involve processing oil sludge collected from the gas fields through a treatment process that will separate out the oil phase (for reuse by Santos), water phase (for treatment by Santos) and filter cake (which will be treated at our Transpacific Technical Services Wingfield Plant and then disposed to Transpacific’s Landfill at Inkermann SA).

According to Adrian, the Sludge Treatment Facility that Transpacific is building will enable all of the oil to be fully reclaimed and reused by Santos in their production process, which is a massive win from an environmental perspective.

“The facility will also mean that Santos will save long term. Without it, Santos would face extremely high costs, having to freight the liquid to a facility like ours in Wingfield for treatment and recycling or disposal,” said Adrian.
